Embrace the Change
Three traveling couples for Christmas!

Observing the car up ahead on the highway I was instantly intrigued!
As we drove nearer and I fumbled to get my phone on the camera setting, I quickly snapped a picture (above is THE actual photo I took!) of this old turquoise car with the scraggliest roadside Christmas tree on the top that you could imagine!
We were on a little trip to divert this mama’s attention because it would be the first time ever we wouldn’t all be celebrating Christmas together as a family this particular year and I was doing my best to “embrace the change.”
As we passed the car, I waved and smiled at the cutest young couple sitting in the front seat. She was scooted up close by his side as we all drove west on that sunny day.
Seeing this young couple on their travels reminded me of another young couple 2000 plus years ago on a journey as well.
Except their travel was by donkey and on top rode a late third trimester pregnant, Mary, as they journeyed to Bethlehem many miles away.
Soon after their arrival into town, Mary would embrace a precious baby boy, swaddle him and hold him near to her heart as strangers would come to observe him, compelled by an angel in a field and a bright glistening star high in the sky.
In a deeper sense, Mary too “embraced the change” in her life.
“I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered to the angel that visited her in Luke 1:38. “May your word to me be fulfilled.”
And that baby boy that came?
Well, that baby would grow and change our world!
So, this Christmas, my hope is that you too would “embrace the change,”
His name is Jesus.
He came into our world to seek and save those who were lost! And I’m so thankful he did because I was one of his rescued lambs. Perhaps you are too, or maybe you are the one needing the change in your life as well.
Embrace the change.
This has been my attitude shift.
Now to be honest, I’m not one who likes change or getting out of my comfort zone. But I’m realizing that attitude is everything!
Change inevitably happens and I can embrace it with a positive attitude or complain. Change is going to happen either way.
Change WILL happen either way.
So, I’m choosing, yes, because it is a choice, to embrace change. And, as a result, I’m discovering all kinds of blessings since I made the decision to do so.
Blessings like new schedules, new people, new places, and new thought patterns. And you know what, it just makes for a more pleasant life experience for me AND for those around me.
And although life around us changes, I’m so grateful for a God who never changes!
“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” Hebrews 13:8
Until next time, sweet friends,
Brooke

I've been pondering the “yes” of the season. How a yes to Jesus changes our lives so profoundly and how every yes to Him is most glorious and a no to all the things that keep us from the life He came to give us. So, ... “Yes” to stillness, to beholding Him, to experiencing the infinite love, and breath. For He is my very breath. Blessings, sweet Sister🙏🏾🌸
Brooke, I'm with you. Change is hard! We love the familiar, we love the cozy predictable. But that God never changes like shifting shadows is such a great gift, a true encouragement in our lives.
He already knows the future. We like that, don't we . . .
Saturday night blessings, friend.
