It’s interesting to read this - I didn’t have a MIL - both she and my own Mom passed away years before my husband and I met. I have 2 daughters that are both married. Relationships with son-in-laws are very different. πŸ˜ŠπŸ˜‰

Such a great post, I love your perspective as both MIL/DIL! I am so thankful for my MIL and my wonderful relationship with her, we are very close, and I too talk to my MIL more than my husband doesβ€”multiple times a week in addition to seeing her at least once a week if not more!

I always try to put myself in her shoes, especially now as a mother myself. I hope my sons call me often when they’re grown, I hope they want me to be part of their lives, I hope they want me to be close to their children, I hope I am welcome in their home and I know it will take a good relationship with their wives to make that happen. I want it for my MIL too πŸ’— she has raised amazing children and loves my own children, and myself, dearly. I’m so thankful for her!

Thank you, Larson, I so appreciate your comment. I’m thrilled you have this kind of relationship with your MIL, and that you are also modeling a good relationship with her in front of your children. What a true blessing for all of you! πŸ’•

Start/continue praying for your children’s spouses now, sweet friend! πŸ™
