Some have little impact yet others have life altering impact.
This post is about the latter, the life altering kind of decision.
When I said yes. To Jesus!
I was saved on a Monday night, April 26, to be exact, in the mid 70’s.
On the Sunday before, along with all the other kids at my church, we attended the “big people” service to hear the Pastor tell the children a monthly story up front in the first few pews. He was a good storyteller and I listened. Intently listened to the story.
And it changed my heart, and my life.
It was about a little boy who was not a Christian but who would later become one in the story. Sounds simplistic (but I got the message loud and clear!)
So, Sunday went along as usual till my head hit the pillow that night in my lilac-colored painted bedroom. I soon remembered the children’s story from church. I wrestled in my mind over the decision and pleaded with God to not come back that night because I knew I wasn’t ready. And I fitfully fell asleep.
Monday morning went as usual, as well as school that day, supper and play time.
But when my head hit my flowery pillowcase, my mind started racing as much as my heart! I was not a Christian and I knew it. If Jesus came back tonight, I would not be ready. And it was more than my 7-year-old heart could bear! So, I race walked down the hallway and boldly announced to my parents, “I want to get saved!”
On that wonderful spring night, I knelt, cried and prayed with my dad and mom and asked Jesus into my heart at our coffee table in the family room.
My burden was lifted as I was now a child of God!
After the prayer, we called our Pastor to tell him the good news, then we celebrated with a bowl of chocolate ice cream and then I went back to bed.
With a clear conscience, unburdened heart and being a new little lamb in the fold, I fell asleep and slept like a baby!
That happened a few decades ago but I remember it like it was yesterday. I can honestly say that God has faithfully been my friend all these years.
Oh, I've strayed, sinned, and struggled along the way as a Christian, BUT GOD has remained faithful all throughout my life. I’m so incredibly grateful!
You know, the Christian walk doesn't mean life will be easy, it just means that you will have Jesus WITH YOU all along the way and that's made all the difference!
Give Him a try today, won't you?
John 3:16 says, "For God so loved the world that He gave his one and only son that whoever believes in him will not perish but will have everlasting life."
And that goes for you too!
Ask for forgiveness, believe in Him, confess your sins and decide to live for God.
It's really as easy as ABCD - Ask, Believe, Confess, Decide.
It's your choice.
I know He'll be with you all along the way too!
If you want to pray to receive Jesus into your life, then pray this prayer with me:
Dear God,
Here I am, Lord.
I’m coming to you and asking you to come into my life.
I believe you are the one true living God and I put my trust in you going forward.
I lay all of my sins before you and ask for your forgiveness, knowing that you will forgive.
Help me now to follow you all the rest of my days.
Amen
If you prayed this prayer, then let me be the first to congratulate you on making THE best decision of your life! Please tell someone that will encourage you (pastor, Christian friend or relative) and help you in your new walk with the Lord. If you want to share in a comment, you are welcome to, so this wonderful Christian community can congratulate and support you as well!
This is so sweet, precious and recalled in such wonderful detail. The angels rejoice!
Thank you, such a beautiful story. “Let the little children come to me.”
