Oh my, Brooke, the way you write is tender, friendly, inviting, and so so lovely. Please, can we get coffee together!! This would be such a dream. I'd love to talk travel with you and gush on your grandbabies.
Life is so precious to have touch points and real conversations!
Well, since you asked, I have a funny now/ mortifing then travel story. I was wearing a one piece travel jumpsuit with wide legs. Literally upon landing 🛬 in Rome, said wide leg got caught in an escalator. As we were making our descent, my husband used hulk energy and ripped my pant leg free 🤣. Thank the Lord the escalator didn’t eat my entire jumpsuit!!!
Such a delightful, cozy read, Brooke! It WOULD be fun to commiserate over coffee about our travel experiences. But none of ours compare to yours, given your substandard coffeepot, thin towels, and scorpion! I COULD switch topics a bit and tell you about a filthy, roach-infested parsonage we once had to move into, with a toddler and newborn to protect. But to make a long story short, all turned out well in the end--after insect extermination and lots of cleaning!
Oh Nancy!!! I’m so glad your story ended well but gross, right?! Thank you for reading, I’m so glad you enjoyed it and took the time to comment, that is so encouraging! 💕
Brooke, what a delightful conversation. I loved every bit of it and I love you. Your words are so refreshing. I especially love hearing about your travels, howyou plan them and the journey itself. I hope we can Zoom soon. Congratulations on the news of your grandchild🎉! I’m absolutely over the moon for your family♥️
Thank you, thank you, Andrea! I’m tickled you enjoyed this post and yes, we can zoom/ chat anytime, sweet friend! I just wish we all could meet for real and sip our favorite beverages and hug each other’s necks this side of heaven! 🥰
It’s gonna happen. I just know it. Whether it is as you and you hubby traverse the states, a woman’s conference, a writer’s meet-up; I know the Lord will shift the digital space into face-to-face one day💖🌸
I could sit all day with you listening to your thoughts and ideas. But I'll have to let you know, that your thoughts and ideas, as awesome as they are, fades in comparison to your warmth. You are such a warm and free-spirited human and it was a pleasure reading your thoughts and musings.
Brooke, you are awesome. I love the joy you have for life. I pray my daughters find a woman like you to disciple them in the things a dad can’t.
If you and your husband ever come to northern Mississippi you don’t have to worry about a rental or any other pay to stay arrangement. My wife and I would love to host you and we will show you the pics of our 4 grandkids. Two boys and two girls. We would also tell you we are expecting our 5th. My g-pa name is Gunny (short for Gunnery Sergeant, which I was in the Marines) my wife is Grammy. We love it.
My late friend, Sarah, and I went on a road trip several years ago, on a quest to visit Aussie icon, Byron Bay. On the way, we stopped in at a little budget accommodation place I’d booked in a picturesque small town.
We weren’t expecting much, but what we got was memorable! The hosts had misread our booking and were just beginning to get ready to reopen for the year—they hastily ’prepared’ our room (a cabin with bunk needs, formerly used for school camps). I’ve seen cleaner linen, the place was covered in dust, and the fridge was full of mould and tiny black BUGS!
We quickly decided our two nights would only be one, and enjoyed finding sunflowers and cows in the neighbouring fields before setting off the next day.
As far as plans go, it was a disaster, but it gave us lots of laughs, an opportunity to enjoy God’s creation, and a beautiful memory of our friendship to carry in my heart 🩷
I hope you and your husband enjoy many beautiful times on your anticipated travels this year!
I also consider myself a CHRISTIAN. Jesus responded to (among other things) all the prayers for me after I'd been thrown out of my car, shattering my pelvis, breaking my ribs plus both femurs. The car in the high Oregon desert was seen from his truck. That is where my rescue began. Much, much therapy began, physical, cognitive, emotional. I was given a tetanus shot before my intense allergy was known. Accident as June 6, 1978. I awoke in New York University hospital after a coma that lasted the whole 1978 summer awaking ~ labor day 1978. My future husband for whom I was supposed to meet & marry left me. I think Jesus has other plans for me.
That is quite a story you have there, LM! I encourage you to write a post about it, you have so much to share! God has been faithful to you. I’m so glad you know Jesus and are here, sweet friend!
I love the idea of visiting all 50 states. Let me know when you're in the NC, Raleigh-Durham area. I also enjoy traveling and spending time with my two granddaughters! 💕
I thought I responded but don’t see it. Yes, of course, we can get coffee sometime, Tanya! I would love to meet you too, I’m sure we’d have lots to chat about! DM me your location and if we’re ever in your area, I would look you up! I’d love a meet and greet!!

Aww, Obosa! I truly wish I could just sit at a table with all of you sweet friends and chat and hug your necks! 🥰
Your writing is so welcoming. I love how far down you and your husband have gone on your travel buck-list. So exciting.
Each state is so beautiful and has so much to offer, Jillian! God’s creations are amazing! Thank you for reading!
It truly is. Enjoy your travels, dear friend! ❤️

Thank you, Robert, those are very kind words and compliments, I’m humbled.
And if we return to your area, we’ll be sure to look you both up! Thank you, friend!

Oh, this is great Ali! Yeah I would have checked out early too! Thank you for sharing your experience, it really adds to the conversation and fun!
I was born in CT but don't remember much of those early years! Going to keep reading and then reply...
See comment below, it didn’t attach to your comment for some reason.

I sure will, Chano! Aren’t grandchildren the ultimate joy givers! 💕
Yes, they bring me so much joy and have helped me transform surviving into truly living after my son’s passing.
I know that is true, sweet friend!
